A unique shopping event will be hosted next weekend by The Woodson African American Museum of Florida.

The Curator’s Closet will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the museum, 2240 9th Avenue South in St. Petersburg. The community is invited to visit The Woodson for a garden sale that offers an opportunity to uncover exciting finds such as linens, glassware, kitchen essentials, Christmas decorations, and more while supporting the museum's mission to preserve, present, interpret, celebrate, and educate African American history, art, and culture.

The Curator’s Closet event is the first of its kind at the museum. The event is free and open to the public. Proceeds from sales will go to the museum.

About The Woodson Museum

Located in the heart of St. Petersburg’s historic Jordan Park neighborhood and held in its curated Legacy Garden, visitors say The Woodson is more than a museum. It is a cultural cornerstone committed to telling the stories, achievements, and experiences that shape our shared history.

Organizers hope events such as The Curator’s Closet bring the community together in ways that extend beyond the galleries, creating opportunities for engagement, connection, and support.

“For nearly twenty years, The Woodson has thoughtfully collected a wonderful array of items, each offering its own unique charm and value,” said Terri Lipsey Scott, executive director of The Woodson Museum. “Through our Curator’s Closet garden sale, we invite you to explore these special treasures, discover something unexpected, and perhaps find that perfect item you didn’t even know you were looking for.”
